Gastronomic Delights
Wednesday: Senso - good service (they split the portions for us), but still could have done better (lil sharp bone in the meat sauce for the xxl pappardelle), highlight: middle-aged angmoh 'uncle' who cleaned/cleared our table and said I was sweet for saying thank you so many times. service: good, food: not bad, but not spectacular nor particularly memorable. return? doubt so.
Thursday: Tatsuya - service barely so-so, manager's not bad but hmm well. food - sashimi was amazing. tempura a close second, unagi slices delicious. not a big fan of the chawanmushi though. and i don't know if trouble finds us or what, but this time, there was a piece of plastic in xx's salad. but the japanese chef made a good comeback - sincerely apologised several times and three scoops of complimentary ice cream came (black sesame!!).
Friday: Aunty Jenny's Shui Jiao! - Deep fried or steamed, both sooo yum.
Filling: 1:1 minced pork: prawns. water chestnut, spring onions, corn flour, soya sauce, 2 eggs, sugar, pepper. sesame oil. marinate for at least 2 hours.
Soup: anchovies/ikan bilis, big piece of ginger, octopus tentacle. soak ikan bilis and drain to reduce saltiness. toast in hot pan without oil, then add water for soup. add other ingredients.
mmm.
--------
three days to tokyo. completely unpacked, with lots more to do.
not a good time to lose my organiser =(
