When you dare to try...
... you just might get what you want.
- Friday, 19 July 2013, 5pm-ish. I got the rotation opportunity with the team that I've been eyeing! This is despite: 1) less than a year on the job when I applied! (6 months actually) 2) pretty much no call-handling experience 3) much less in Chinese 4) I am sure there were many many other strong candidates. Happy Friday it was indeed.
Not only did she offer me the role, but she heaped a ton of praises as well: 1) they normally don't even consider candidates who have spent less than a year in their current roles/the company 2) natural candidates usually have the phone skills spot-on, then they teach the business part 3) I'm the opposite 4) few grammatical errors and well-thought-out writing sample (I widened my eyes at the "few grammatical errors" and wanted to jump up and ask "where??". perfectionistme) 5) not just her decision, but unanimous team decision.
Wow.
I am excited, but also realistic. It's going to be a lot of hard work learning a new role and structure, especially just when I'm starting to get used to my current role and contribute more. Will have to work harder this month (official date in a month from today!) to make sure that I clear my own tasks so nobody has to cover for me.

In other recent news, 1) decided on insurance, finally getting a move on with it 2) USP commencemnt dinner with all four of us 3) dinner with Isabel earlier tonight at Old Airport Road (yummy carrot cake and rojak! bad bad mango dessert...).
In the not so good section: 1) not doing well with floorball (unfit, heart's not really in it, ended up skipping 2-3 weeks' of training earlier in the month) 2) not consistent with attendance for squash either 3) haven't seen Mas in too long. 4) will not be seeing Mas for too long in the future. 5) he didnt sound as excited as I am when I told him about the job rotation opp 6) not enough time for me 7) mum has been nagging/hinting a lot that she/they don't see me i.e., I'm not home enough...
Oh well, this month's spending was doing really well (probably thanks to xx and yy both being overseas HAHA) so I went on a shopping splurge today. 1 pair of red pants, 2 dresses, 1 belt, 1 top for my mum, lunch at the soba place in Nex. there goes like 250$ and the rest of my month's excess money haha.
I miss Mas; and he seems really quite open to coming over for a while. But somehow, I've been feeling that I'm the one semi-consciously offering the resistance... Why? Hmm...
